Your First Look at the New Post-Merger American Airlines

November 20, 2013

Wondering just how gargantuan the new airline created by the U.S. Airways-American Airlines merger will be?

Wonder no more.
Tuesday’s sign-off by the Department of Justice has many in the industry wondering what the shockwaves of the merger will be as the world’s largest airline is about to be formed.
Low-cost airlines like JetBlue got what they wanted in getting more slots at seven of the biggest U.S. airports that will lead to more flights available.

Delta is still fighting to get in on the slot swap, arguing they deserve a piece of the pie. But that would fly in the face of the key components that made the DOJ sign off on the sale — a more even playing field for the smaller airlines.

As for the world’s newest airline juggernaut? They made sure to show they got their way, and to show they are only giving up a minute piece of their overall flight schedule to make the merger happen.
