Wow!! JetBlue Expands to Lima, Peru. // www.SteeleTravelBlog.con

April 30, 2013

JetBlue, which recently posted less than stellar first quarter 2013 results, claiming expansion of routes as reasons for a healthier financial forecast for the rest of the year, is putting its money where its mouth is.

This November the airline begins flights to Lima Peru, in a daily service from Fort Lauderdale on an Airbus A230 aircraft. Lima will be the airlines southernmost and 81st destination. Latin American and Caribbean destinations now make up almost one-third of JetBlue’s route network.

Connecting service to Lima via Fort Lauderdale will be available from JetBlue’s other major destinations, including Boston, Hartford, New York JFK, Newark Liberty, Raleigh/Durham and Washington Reagan National.

“With Lima, our first destination in Peru and the southernmost destination in the network, we are confident in our penetration of South America,” said Scott Laurence, JetBlue’s VP of network planning.

The Nov. 21 launch of the Fort Lauderdale-Lima route is subject to regulatory approval.
