Move over, Jennifer Aniston and Nicole Kidman. Hugh Jackman is joining your club.
Aussie homeboy Hugh Jackman is the new face of his native Qantas Airlines, joining Aniston – who hawks Emirates – and Kidman, who does ad campaigns for Etihad.
Jackman also joins fellow thespians John Travolta and Miranda Kerr as brand ambassadors for Qantas.
According to News.com in Australia, Qantas is counting on Jackman to help boost tourism to the country from the United States and Asia. Because of the falling dollar, Australia has seen a seven percent increase in tourism between June of 2014 and June of 2015.
The airline is hoping to leverage Jackman’s international appeal as both a film star and Broadway star to lure tourists from both markets. The actor makes his home in both the U.S. and Australia.
Qantas announced the news via video, with Jackman espousing the beauty of the country and the airline, and encouraging travelers to forget about the lengthy U.S.-Sydney flying time.
