Virgin Atlantic Airways has introduced a new Upper Class cabin that is part of its £100 million redesign of the Upper Class product. Virgin has created a new website at www.virginatlanticplaneview.com/ that has a virtual tour of the new cabin. The site links to more than 40 YouTube videos that feature the new cabin.
The new cabin features an eight-foot-long bar billed as the longest in the sky. The bar is separate from the main cabin and designed to be a place to socialize. Another new element is a new bed that is 87 inches long, an inch-and-a-half wider than the previous version, and reclines 50 percent more. The suite has a new entertainment hub and other design elements. Each seat has a 12.1-inch touch-screen monitor, and carries Virgin’s new entertainment system called JAM. The cabin continues to use the Virgin red color theme, has Swarovski crystal accents and a new mood lighting system that changes color throughout the flight.
