Virgin America Seeks Rights to Fly to Mexican Destinations

Virgin America, which just began its first international flights to Toronto, said it intends to serve a new international destination, Mexico. It plans to launch flights from SFO to San Jose del Cabo (SJD), SFO to Cancun International Airport (CUN) and LAX to CUN. The airline has filed with the U.S. Department of Transportation for authority to begin flying to Mexico this winter. Virgin American has added five new destinations in 2010, has a fleet growth of close to two-thirds projected by Dec. 2011 and plans to double its teammate base by 2012.
