The World’s Top Three Business Class Seats!
Let’s Hear It For…Oman?
“Half the fun is getting there?” Only half? Not if these guys have any say…
The good news: the world-recognized Skytrax ranking agency has tipped its hat to those airlines with the best Business Class seating. The bad news: the carriers are all on the other side of the planet. The silver lining of the bad news: these are the flying palaces that make 13-hour long-hauls the most sybaritic in the sky. The flight crew may end up having to pry you off the plane.
#1: OMAN AIR
Oman Air Business Class |
Time to haul out the atlas; on the vaguely boot-shaped Arabian Peninsula, Oman forms the toe, and is a Middle Eastern standout for not being in perpetual self-destruct mode. Oman Air became a standout, and earned its gold-medal laurels, when it became the first airline in the world to offer in-flight mobile phone calling, SMS, and WiFi Internet services, on top of the standing USB and Ethernet connections in its Business Class seats. Too much tech? Travelers can revel in 77.5-inch long, 22-inch fully convertible/adjustable lie-flat seats, each overlooked by a 17-inch Gen III TV monitor. Throw in a personal cocktail table, buddy seat, and reading light, and you can see how this airline became the leader of the pack.
#2: SINGAPORE AIRLINES
Singapore Airlines Business Class |
The only shock here is that somebody actually managed to break the historic stranglehold Singapore Airlines has usually had on first place. So busy the airline actually has three types of Business Class, travelers can stretch out in ensconced 30-inch wide upholstered leather seats (largest in the biz), each with USB ports and overlooked by a 15.4-inch LCD TV, before blissing out into a restful sleep swaddled by a light duvet, larger pillows and fresh linens. Upon waking, a true epicurean delight awaits: the food. Each menu is especially created by Singapore Airline’s International Culinary Panel of celebrated chefs from around the globe, served on tableware from Givenchy.
#3: QATAR AIRWAYS
Qatar Airways Business Class |
Back to the Middle East. If Oman forms the toe of the Arabian Peninsula, tiny Qatar is the bone spur on the shin. With one of the youngest fleets flying, Qatar Airways enshrines Business Class travelers in their own personal sanctuary. Stay connected with a laptop power outlet, USB plug, and private telephone. Chill out with over 1000 entertainment options, including the latest movies, TV, and games or create your own audio playlist with your personal jukebox. Drift away on fully flat beds (with built-in massager!) cloaked in woolen blankets and 100% cotton sleeper suits to luxurious Molton Brown amenity kits. You can even eat when you want, with the wines that you want.
