Star Chef Creates Menus for Lufthansa’s First, Business Class

November 24, 2008

Chris Staines will provide the culinary introduction to the new year for Lufthansa passengers. In the months of January and February, he will create innovative menus for First and Business Class passengers on long-haul flights. Passengers traveling in First Class will have a chance to sample his rabbit terrine with English mustard sauce and cucumber relish as a starter, and choose, for example, between fish and chips (fried cod with sauce remoulade, mushy peas and potatoes) and fillet of beef Wellington with truffle jus, carrots and broccoli as a main dish. In Business Class, Staines will treat passengers to a varied menu including fruity chicken salad with Stilton cream and almonds as an hors d’oeuvre, followed, for instance, by fettucine pasta with creamy mushroom sauce and white cheddar.

Since January 2000, Lufthansa has offered its First and Business Class passengers imaginative menus, created by top chefs from all over the world, to make a Lufthansa flight a truly heavenly experience. To date, such international celebrities as Harald Wohlfahrt (Baiersbronn), Dieter Müller (Bergisch Gladbach), Frank Zlomke (Paarl, South Africa), Daniel Boulud (New York) and Paul Bocuse (Lyon) have been engaged as Lufthansa “Star Chefs.” In addition, since the beginning of 2005, internationally renowned chefs have created special menus on selected long-haul routes from Germany to reflect the culinary tastes and traditions of the respective destination.
