Virgin Group founder donned a wing, high heels, and red lipstick (note to Turkish Airlines!) and shaved his legs in preparation of serving a six-hour Air Asia Flight from Perth, Australia to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Branson had lost a 2010 Formula One car-racing bet to AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes and the campy stunt was his punishment.
Sir Richard Branson looks great in drag but his new boss at AirAsia says his flight attendant skills are “rubbish.” The
Fernandes himself was aboard the flight, whose ticket sales were earmarked to help fund the Starlight Children’s Foundation (the flight raised close to $200,0000). Onboard, Sir Richard served meals, made flight announcements and spilled a tray of orange juice over Ferandes who told reporters that “I wanted to kill him actually” when asked if he thought it was funny.
At the conclusion of the flight Branson told reporters that he was “glad to have gotten the bet over with and (was) looking forward to getting back into my clothes.” No word as to whether his first (?) adventure out in heels left Sir Richard with sympathy for his own flight attendants who are known for their signature red pumps.
