Well this might be love, but it’s also dumb as hell.
A 33-year old man in France has been arrested and is facing a large fine after calling in a bomb threat to a regional airport – all because his girlfriend was running late for a flight and was afraid she would miss the plane.
Agency France Presse reports the call was made to Bordeaux-Merignac regional airport in southwestern France on Thursday with a very simple message of, “There is a bomb.”
The man’s goal was to delay regular airport proceedings long enough for his girlfriend to make her flight, and indeed police were called and part of the airport was shut down for searches.
When nothing was found, an investigation was launched into the phone call and the man was quickly tracked down about 12 miles from the airport and admitted to calling in the hoax.
A costly hoax, at that.
He could be fined up to 30,000 euros, or $33,000 in U.S. dollars – most definitely an expensive faux pas.
