Dorchester Collection has added the Eternal City to its portfolio of property locations with the acquisition of the 121-room Eden Hotel. Known for the fine food and peerless views of Rome from its rooftop restaurant, a favorite of director Federico Fellini, the Eden is located between the Spanish Steps and the Via Veneto. The Dorchester Group Ltd. acquired the property from Starman Hotels. Dorchester took over the hotel’s management from Starwood on Sept. 18.

Built in the 1830s and made a hotel in the 1890s, the property literally overlooks the seven hills of Rome in perhaps the city’s best location. From the sixth floor, diners at the Michelin-starred La Terrazza dell’Eden, the bar and Terrace Garden can have a commanding view of Rome from St. Peter’s Dome to the Vittoriano Monument.
The Hotel Eden now joins such other properties in the portfolio as The Dorchester, London; The Beverly Hills Hotel, Beverly Hills; Le Meurice and Hôtel Plaza Athénée, Paris; Hotel Principe di Savoia, Milan; Hotel Bel-Air, Los Angeles; Coworth Park, Ascot, U.K.; 45 Park Lane, London; and Le Richemond , Geneva.
