On July 3, British Airways received delivery of its first A380. The jet will go into service on Sept. 24 serving the London to Los Angeles route and on London to Hong Kong on Oct. 22. Over the next 15 months, BA will take delivery of new aircraft once every two weeks. BA’s A380 will seat 469 passengers in four cabins.
The 14-seat First Class cabin will feature 30 percent more personal space and 60 percent more personal stowage. The 97-seat Club World (business class) cabin is divided between the main deck and the upper deck. World Traveller (economy) customers will be seated on both the main and upper decks also. BA has 12 A380s on order for delivery by 2016. Three will arrive this year followed by a further five in 2014.
