American Airlines said it will launch 17 additional frequencies between the United States and Brazil beginning this fall after receiving approval from U.S. and Brazilian authorities.
“Customers have told us they desire more service to South America’s largest country and economy,” said Virasb Vahidi, American’s chief commercial officer. “Our expanded service to Brazil, along with the introduction of our Boeing 777-300ER to Sao Paulo this December, will give our customers even more travel choices to Latin America.”

Beginning Oct. 1, American will launch a second daily flight between New York’s Kennedy Airport and Sao Paulo. On Nov. 15, American will convert its daily Miami to Salvador flight, with continuing service to Recife, from one-stop service to non-stop service five days per week between Miami and both Recife and Salvador. American will also increase its current one daily non-stop flight between Miami and Rio de Janeiro to two daily non-stops on Dec. 15.

In June, American increased weekly flights between Dallas/Fort Worth and Sao Paulo from seven times per week to 12 times per week and increased flights from Miami to Brasilia and Belo Horizonte from five and three times per week, respectively, to daily. American also launched new service between its Miami hub and Manaus, its seventh destination in Brazil, on June 14.

With the most service between North America and Brazil, American serves Brazil from Miami to Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Manaus, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Sao Paulo; from New York-JFK to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo; and from Dallas/Fort Worth to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. In total, American offers nearly 800 weekly flights to more than 40 cities throughout Latin America, including Mexico, Central and South America. In addition, the Dallas/Fort Worth-Sao Paulo flight will be the first to feature the newest addition to American’s fleet, the Boeing 777-300ER, this December.
