American Ends Complimentary Pillows & Blankets in Coach

February 16, 2010

Following the lead of other airlines, American Airlines will no longer have complimentary pillows and blankets in the coach cabin on all domestic flights, effective May 1. This includes flights to and from Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Central America. Customers traveling in the coach cabin on all domestic flights over two hours in length will have the option to purchase a pillow and blanket pack for $8. If they choose to purchase, customers will be able to keep the pillow and blanket for use on future flights or other uses. Premium class cabins on all flights and all cabins on international flights and South America flights will continue to offer a complimentary blanket for use in flight. The new pillow and blanket pack is a blue fleece blanket with an inflatable neck pillow, the pillow and blanket are inside a clear zippered pouch. There is also a $10 off a $30 purchase coupon for Bed, Bath and Beyond. Other airlines charging for pillows and blankets include JetBlue and USAirways. For more information, visit www.aa.com.
