Aman Resorts to Open Dominican Republic Property in Late 2015

July 2, 2015

Aman Resorts will launch Amanera, a new resort offering 25 casitas on the Dominican Republic’s North Coast, in the fourth quarter of 2015, the company announced.

The 2,000-acre clifftop property will be a “golf-integrated” resort positioned along the Playa Grande Golf Course. Accommodations will feature the use of natural materials including stone from local quarries, handmade tiles and Dominican art and artifacts. The resort will also offer “extensive dining, spa and recreational facilities,” said company officials.

Designed to appear as natural parts of the landscape, the resort’s 25 casitas will all have flat roofs topped with green gardens, cooling off the living spaces below. The casita configurations are designed to “blur the lines” that separate the dwellings from the surrounding jungle. Each casita will have an ocean view, a large terrace, outdoor seating and lounge areas, and high-ceilinged living and sleeping areas.

The casitas will be accessed via winding pathways through private gardens. Thirteen of the casitas will feature 32-foot private pools.

The Casa Grande facility, at the center of the resort, will feature views of the ocean, the golf course and the jungle and include an open-air bar and lounge, a library, a cigar bar and a restaurant. Other facilities will include Club de Playa on Playa Grande beach, a children’s club, a fitness center and the Aman Spa.
