Soon, neighbors who have to deal with Airbnb rentals in their vicinity will have an outlet outside awkward stares and strongly worded letters placed in mailboxes.
According to very promising reports, you will soon be able to send that strongly worded letter straight to Airbnb officials.
We imagine this allows for a more efficient stress relief from the Bluetooth speaker pumping out Smash Mouth next door.
The Verge’s Andrew J. Hawkins reports on some exciting new innovations that will hit the service by next month.
The new feature will not, however, aim to assuage renters or guests. Rather, it’s meant to soothe those in the neighborhood who presumably have to deal with an influx of tourists that may or may not be noisy.
Hawkins quotes a spokesperson who offered the following in an email to The Verge: “In the next month we are planning to start offering a new feature on our website that will enable neighbors to register a complaint directly to our customer service team for follow up. We will have more details when we formally launch the product in the coming weeks.”
Airbnb is a fine service if you are among those that have the opportunity to rent out a property they may not be utilizing.
It’s also a new and inventive way to enjoy a new city outside the usual hotel. There is something wonderful about seeing how locals live while you vacation; it somehow personalizes the holiday.
A recent trip to Palm Springs for this writer, for example, afforded the opportunity to wade in a private pool and relax in a rare tranquil setting.
Of course, there is the much-publicized downside for those who draw umbrage with Airbnb’s effect on available rental properties and, more apropos to the upcoming feature, raucous tourists who may be staying temporarily in the neighborhood.
While it will take time to answer the former, this new feature will go a long way to perhaps quelling some of the concerns of residents in the immediate area who tire of cars piling up on the block and noise creeping over the previously peaceful walls.
