Since December, Air France has gradually been introducing a new business-class cabin on its long-haul network, equipped with a full-sleep seat, which is longer, wider and more spacious and which has been totally redesigned to provide additional comfort. After three months of operations and a survey carried out among customers, this new business-class seat has been praised by 90 percent of them, who consider the new seat’s comfort in the sleeping position as “good” to “excellent.” The positive comments mainly concern the quality of sleep during the flight, its horizontal position and the legroom.Other new features praised were how easy the seat is to use, its different relaxation positions (including during take-off and landing), and the new storage space. Close to 95 percent of customers surveyed would recommend it.
Inaugurated on Dec. 8 between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and New York-Newark, the new long-haul business-class seats will be installed in 26 aircraft by this summer. Given the positive results, Air France will implement the new seats in 63 aircraft by summer 2012. The new business-class seats are available on flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Brazzaville and Pointe Noire and will shortly be available on flights to Newark, Rio de Janeiro, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Osaka, Bangkok, Phnom Penh, New York-Kennedy and Santiago.
