Emirates Airline began daily nonstop service between New York JFK and Milan Malpensa (MXP) Oct. 1. The flight is the only first-class offering on the route, according to a statement from the airline. Emirates will fly Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on the route with eight Private Suites in First Class, 42 flat-bed seats in Business Class and 310 seats in Economy Class. Amenities include gourmet chef-prepared meals, an entertainment system with up to 1,500 channels, lounges at JFK and MXP and complimentary chauffeur service to and from the airport for all First Class and Business Class travelers.
According to Jim Baxter, Emirates’ vice president, North America, “A trans-Atlantic route such as this will provide a much needed bridge between these two great centers of commerce and tourism. Our hope is that this new route will encourage traffic flow in both directions to create a greater exchange of business, trade and tourism.”
The flight is Emirates’ only direct flight from the United States to Europe. Emirates Flight EK206 departs New York at 10:20 p.m. and arrives in Milan at 12:15 p.m. the following day.
